This chapter presented many Good Citizen Awards to the local schools; honored our Veterans; sent gifts to our Troops in Iraq; had a memorial mass for the Marquis de La Fayette; invited the State Officers to several meetings; presented an award for Women's History; had a meeting on the DAR insignia; received several proclamations for Constitution Week, September 17-23 of each year; and the chapter regent is state chairman of the Service for Veterans committee. Also, we are proud to have as a member, Barbara de la Houssaye, Honorary State Regent.
Joanna A. Pruitt and Camille Reed, Acadia members dressed in Colonial garments when Pruitt presented her "Betsy Ross" skit to Acadia Parish children at all the parish libraries in honor of Flag Day. Here they are at Morse Library in Louisiana.
Karren Jarrard, NSDAR Public Relations & Media Committee Chairman, presented the national award to Charlene LaCombe and Alma Reed of Acadia Chapter, LSDAR, at the Continental Congress for their book, "Pictorial Directory of Acadia Parish Veterans" and for media coverage of the Veterans Day program.
Acadia Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution presented Good Citizen Awards to Acadia Parish students at awards ceremonies under the direction of Mrs. Elaine Simon, Chairman of the Good Citizen Contest . Charlene Lacombe, Acadia Chapter DAR past-Regent presented awards for the Good Citizen Contest at Iota Middle School, Evangeline Elementary and St. Francis School.
